In recognition of Liquor Recognition Month, the University of Medication Essential Sciences will host a dialogue among Will Welch, world wide editorial director of GQ journal, and the Vanderbilt Heart for Dependancy Research on Wednesday, April 21, from 11 a.m. to noon CT. Registration is necessary.
The digital celebration, “Addiction, Sobriety and Art in the Time of COVID-19,” will consist of Danny Winder, director of VCAR, and Erin Calipari, assistant professor of pharmacology. Chancellor Daniel Diermeier will make opening remarks.
Subject areas will involve the impacts of COVID-19 on dependancy and sobriety, the stigma of habit, and the intersections of isolation, sobriety, habit and art. Welch has individual working experience with habit and sobriety and has made talking about these difficulties—alongside subject areas like psychological overall health, wellness and the evolving character of masculinity—a target of GQ in modern many years.
Started in 2016 within the College of Drugs Simple Sciences, VCAR seeks to acquire advantage of the technological revolution inside the subject of neuroscience to uncover the mechanisms by which addiction, a disease of the mind, develops and to use these discoveries to reward society. VCAR’s discovery and translation efforts include experts across the university and professional medical center campuses.
